Kolkata, Mar 05: The West Bengal Assembly witnessed unruly scenes, walkout, scuffles with securitymen and storming of the well by opposition Trinamool Congress members on the opening day of the Budget Session today. As Governor Viren J Shah entered the house to deliver his customary address, Trinamool Congress MLA Paresh Pal holding a poster tried to obstruct his passage. The Governor, however, was escorted inside by the watch and ward staff.
Soon after, Trinamool members stormed the well shouting slogans against the left front government and the Governor for acting as its 'stooge'.
Throughout the governor's speech, TC MLAs chorused "Governor Go Back" which at one point prompted shah to retort "you demand it".
The TC legislators also brandished posters with slogans "we don't want to listen to the governor who behaves indecently with women" and "behave properly with women".
Opposition Congress MLAs shouted slogans against the February six alleged rape and molestation of women returning from a wedding during a robbery and murder in two luxury buses at Dhantala in Nadia district.
The Congress members subsequently walked out as did the Left opposition party Socialist Unity Centre of India.
Trinamool Congress members scuffled with the watch and ward staff again later in an attempt to prevent governor from leaving the house.
Later, TC chief whip Sobhandev Chattopadhyay told newsmen that Viren J Shah was acting at the behest of the Left Front government.
