New Delhi, Nov 24: Veteran diplomat Hemayetuddin has taken over as Bangladesh's new High Commissioner to India. Hemayetuddin, who replaced Tofael Karim Haider, assumed charge on Sunday after having the country's ambassador to Thailand.
The 55-year-old high commissioner had earlier served as in different capacities in Beijing, Washington and Brussels and is an old Delhi hand as he was posted in the country's mission here in the eighties.
Hemayetuddin, who began his career in information service, is understood to have played a key role in Bangladesh's economic diplomacy with Thailand and is likely to utilize the experience in boosting ties with India.
