New Delhi, July 20: Pakistani opposition leader Fazal-ur Rahman met Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee tonight and claimed he would visit Pakistan for the SAARC summit in January next.
Talks between senior officials of the two countries would be held before Vajpayee's visit, Rahman, who is chief of hardline Jamiat-Ulema Islam, told reporters here after a 90-minute-long meeting with the Prime Minister.
Asserting that dialogue was the only way to resolve Indo-Pak disputes, Rahman said he would convey the peace initiative of Vajpayee to the people in his country and work for its success.
"Vajpayee confirmed to us that he would be visiting Pakistan for the SAARC summit in January next year. He also made it clear that secretary-level talks should be held before that," Rahman said.
