Bangalore, May 15: Germany-based enclosure systems manufacturer Rittal-Werk is planning to make India a major outsourcing base for components, a top company official said. The $2 billion firm, which has an Indian manufacturing unit near Bangalore is already outsourcing components and finished products on a small scale and is in the process of identifying vendors who can deliver quality components in huge volumes at a cost-effective price.

"This (outsourcing) is a focus area this year. There are going to be more imports from India and China because of cost pressures at the parent company," Rittal India Pvt Ltd Managing Director A K Nathan said.
He said identifying vendors who can deliver sustained quality components on a mass scale was being done, besides working on commitment from the parent on sustained orders.
"Identifying vendors and manufacturers is a tough job in India as most of them fail when they have to scale in quantities," Nathan said. Bureau Report
