Kharar (Punjab), Dec 12: A senior Punjab civil services officer, Arvinder Pal Singh Sandhu today surrendered before a court here, after remaining underground for nearly two months since the registration of criminal case against him and three PCS officers last month. Vigilance bureau DSP, Bholla Singh, confirmed the receipt of notice after surrender of Sandhu and said after seeking permission to formally arrest the accused, it will move an application for the police remand of Sandhu for further investigation into the case.
Of the two other PCS officers, one Jagir Singh, presently suspended from the post of Malout sub-divisional magistrate, was arrested a day after the registration of the case and has since been bailed out, another L D Hans, who is since retired, was still evading arrest. On November 27, a Kharar court had issued proclamation against Sandhu, giving him time for surrender till December 18, failing which as per law provisions, he could have been formally declared a proclaimed offender.
