Bangkok, Nov 23: Thailand Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra today chaired the second International Conference of Asian Political Parties, which is being attended by 72 political parties from 26 countries of the region. The three-day gathering, jointly hosted by Thai political parties, was attended by political leaders from many countries, including Combodian Prime Minister Hun Sen, Philippines' President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, leaders of Chinese Communist Party, Malaysia, and Bangladesh.
The event, started yesterday afternoon, is aimed at evolving a mechanism to promote cooperation among the countries achieving economic and political development in the region.
The leaders will discuss ways to foster the economic and security development besides promoting social justice in the region. Bureau Report
