Coimbatore, Dec 08: Tamil Nadu police have been kept on alert in the border areas of the state with Karnataka in Erode district to meet any eventualities following the recovery of the body of JD(U) leader H Nagappa, who was in the captivity of forest brigand Veerappan for the last 106 days.
An alert had been sounded in the areas, which adjoin Chamarajnagar district in Karnataka. If need arose, additional forces would be deployed, police sources said. Meanwhile, Tamil Nadu State Road Transport has suspended its bus services to Karnataka from Sathyamangalama and Hasanoore and nearby places in Erode district. Other private vehicles and trucks were also likely to stop crossing the border as a precautionary measure, they said.
So far no untoward incident had been reported, they said.
