Mumbai: Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh presented the nation’s second highest civilian award – Padma Vibhushan – to Indian Cinema’s legendary actor Dilip Kumar on Sunday.

The Home Minister, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Governor Vidyasagar Rao visited Kumar’s residence in Mumbai to honour him with the prestigious award.


After presenting the Padma Vibhushan, the Home Minister planted a kiss on Kumar’s forehead and thus expressed his love and admiration for him.


It was indeed an emotional moment for the 93-year-old thespian.


The legendary actor who was overwhelmed, took to Twitter to share his happiness.


He wrote:





The announcement to honour Dilip Kumar, Amitabh Bachchan from the film fraternity with the Padma Vibhushan was made by the government on the eve of Republic Day on January 25, 2015.


However, Kumar could not attend the special function held at Rashtrapati Bhavan in April to receive the honour owing to health issues.
