Singh rules out withdrawal of collective fine
Rajgarh, Aug 19: Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister, Digvijay Singh today ruled out withdrawal of collective fine imposed on those allegedly responsible for destroying crops on dalit lands in Rajgarh and violence over Bhojshala issue in Dhar district.

"There is no question of reconsidering the decision on imposition of collective fine in Rajgarh and Dhar districts," Singh said after inaugurating a new college building at Narsinghgarh near here.
Asked about his younger brother Laxman Singh's opposition to collective fine, the chief minister said, "he is doing his job and I am performing my duty."
He said those below the poverty line would be exempted from paying collective fine, for which a survey was being conducted.
Opposition and members of Hindu Jagran Manch activists have been protesting over the imposition of fine.

On Kalpana Parulekar quitting Congress, Singh said it would not affect the electoral prospects of Congress in the coming assembly elections.
