London, Dec 03: British rock band Oasis say their wildman vocalist Liam Gallagher sustained facial injuries and broken teeth in a Munich nightclub punch-up at the weekend.
The fracas was the latest in a string of misadventures involving the 30-year-old, who has revived not only Britain's tradition of rock n' roll but also the associated taste for mayhem.

German police said the singer brawled with guests at the club at Munich's top hotel, the Bayerischer Hof. Three other band members -- but not Liam's brother Noel -- became involved, they said.
''Several members of Oasis and their entourage were the victims of an unprovoked attack by a group of youths in a Munich club,'' the group said in a statement on its web site.
''Liam Gallagher sustained facial injuries, including several broken teeth.''

The group's scheduled Sunday night concert in Munich was cancelled after the incident.

The Gallagher brothers were as famous for their hell-raising in the early 1990s as for their Beatles-influenced sound, but in recent years marriage and children have mellowed them.

Gone are the days when in 1997 they received a lifetime ban from Hong Kong airline Cathay Pacific for abusive behaviour, as are the filial fisticuffs that punctuated their reign as kings of the British rock scene.

German police arrested Gallagher and his three colleagues early on Sunday after the fracas, questioning them at a local police station before later releasing them.

The band said their attackers fled before police arrived, having left two of the group's security guards in need of hospital treatment.

Oasis were formed by Liam Gallagher in his native Manchester, in Northern England, in 1991. Three years later, they released their debut album ''Definitely Maybe'', billed as the fastest-selling debut in British history.

In April they released their first single in nearly two years, ''Hindu Times'', and in July they released their fifth album ''Heathen Chemistry''.
