Delhi will talk to Dhaka on multiple visa soon: Sahaya

An assurance to this effect was given by External Affairs
Minister Yashwant Sinha to Tripura Governor D N Sahaya during
a recent meeting in Delhi, an official release said here.
The introduction of multiple visa, abolition of travel taxes on passengers of Dhaka-Agartala bus, facility of an Agartala-Guwahati bus service through Sylhat, Akhaura-Agartala rail link and transit and transhipment through Bangladesh and facility to use Chittagong port were discussed at the meeting, it said. Sinha assured Sahaya that the issues would soon be taken up with Bangladesh, it added.
The governor also met President A P J Abdul Kalam and apprised him of the law and order situation in Tripura, besides development activities.
Sahaya met the railway, commerce and law, information and broadcasting and civil aviation ministers in Delhi.
Railway Minister Nitish Kumar assured the governor of expediting the rail extension work and agreed to order computerisation of railway reservation centre at Dharmanagar in North Tripura district soon, the release said. The civil aviation minister assured increased and better air services for the state, it said. Bureau Report
