Kochi, June 26: “A joint meeting of various central trade unions would be held in Delhi on July 15 to consolidate their unity and carry forward the unified struggle in support of agreed minimum demands,” Hind Mazdor Sabha (HMS) All-India General Secretary Thampan Thomas said today. “ A recent meeting of nine central trade unions, including HMS, AITUC, BMS, CITU and INTUC, unanimously decided on a unified struggle to achieve their demands,” he told a press conference here.
The coming meeting would discuss labour laws which were against the interest of the workers, privatisation of profit making public sector undertakings, import policy, unemployment problem, bonus act and interest on provident fund deposits.
“ The meeting would further strengthen TUS' unity at the national level,” he said.

The meeting would also discuss how the aim of a single central union for the workers could be achieved.

“ This was for the first time that such a joint meeting of various trade unions was being held in the country,” he said.
