After Karnataka, Tamil Nadu government on Monday ruled out the acceptance of forest brigand Veerappan's demand for withdrawal of special task force personnel, set up to nab him from the forests, in return for his surrender. “There should be no link between his surrender and the withdrawal of the troops from the forests. Government is not ready to accept his demand. If he wants to surrender, he can do so on his own volition. We know the drama enacted by him in the past and the government is keen that there should be no repetition of the drama,” Chief Minister O Panneerselvam said after a cabinet meeting in Chennai on Monday. Maintaining that the government was yet to receive the audio cassette purportedly sent by Veerappan, Panneerselvam said the police department was investigating whether it came from the forest brigand.
