Six NLFT insurgents killed in factional fight
Agartala, June 25: Six insurgents were killed in a gunbattle between two factions of the banned National Liberation Front of Tripura (NLFT) at Kantapara area of west Tripura district, police today said.
Agartala, June 25: Six insurgents were killed in a gunbattle between two factions of the banned National Liberation Front of Tripura (NLFT) at Kantapara area of west Tripura district, police today said.
Insurgents of rival Biswamohan and Nayanbasi factions of
the outfit clashed when they came across each other while
fleeing remote Takarjala in the face of a search operation by
security forces yesterday, the police said.
On hearing the gunshots the forces rushed to the area and recovered two bullet ridden bodies of members of Nayanabasi faction and 32 rounds of live SLR cartridges from the spot. Three of its members were injured in the gun battle and were taken away by the cadres from the site.
Four insurgents of Biswamohan faction were also killed, the police said, adding the cadres managed to escape from the spot before the security forces could reach there.
Later, during search operations the forces apprehended a self-styled area commander of the NLFT Balarangja Jamatia from the same village who was guiding the insurgents of the Biswamohan faction.
Jamatia was earlier involved in the killing of four members of the ruling CPI-M, abduction and other subversive activities, the police said. Bureau Report
