Berlin, Sept 18: After registering itself as an Indian giant in information technology, Andhra Pradesh would soon take another leap in matching world standards as efforts are in full swing to set up an eco-industrial park with German collaboration by the year 2007. The park which would be coming up at Peddapuram in east Godavari district of the state would be the first of its kind with a special thrust being laid on the environment management for which technical collaboration was being finalised with GTZ, a leading German firm involved in environment management.
A team of Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation Limited (APIICL), Central Pollution Control Board and Environment Protection Training and Research Institute is presently here holding second round of talks with the management of German-owned GTZ for finalisation of plan outlay for the first eco-friendly industrial park in the country.
The three had signed a MoU this year in March. "We are expecting that the park will come up by year 2007 where various kinds of industries would be provided spaces in several zones to protect the environment," said R M Gonela, executive director of APIICL.
The proposed park, for which land has already been acquired would be classified into various zones where industries would be set up. For instance, chemical companies would be in one zone where we would be providing them with the facility of treatment of their wastes, leather companies would be in a different zone, where the treatment of the waste would be done in a different way," he said.
