Srinagar, Nov 03: Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mufti Mohammed Sayeed today hoped the NDA government at the Centre would go an extra mile in consolidating gains made after the successful conduct of the assembly polls and would extend full support to his government in restoring peace in the state.

"We do earnestly hope that assurances made by Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee and Deputy Prime Minister L K Advani to extend full support to the state government will be honoured in letter and spirit and in the national interest," Sayeed said in his first press conference after assuming office. Showering praise on the Prime Minister, the new chief minister said he had promised free and fair elections and he did it.

Hoping the NDA government would do its best to consolidate the gains made after the conduct of free and fair polls in the state, Sayeed said the verdict of the people was for a definite positive change. Bureau Report
