Jaipur, Aug 04: The Rajasthan High Court today extended till August 22 the interim stay on the arrest of senior VHP leader, Acharya Dharmendra for an allegedly inflammatory speech during a Trishul Diksha function in Bhilwara district on March 01 last. The stay was extended by Justice D N Joshi at Jodhpur after the public prosecutors Rajendra Vyas and Ramesh Purohit urged the court to give some more time for filing an affidavit after Acharya's interrogation by the state intelligence bureau.

As per the high court's directive, Acharya had appeared before the intelligence bureau on July 28 in Jaipur, his speech was translated and an affidavit was prepared, according to the defense counsel Hastimal Sarswat.


On July 15 last, Justice Joshi court had deferred the case till August 04 and directed Acharya to appear before it in person. A case under IPC Section 153 A, 295 A has been registered against Dharmendra by Badnor (Bhilwara district) police for violation of sentiments by making an allegedly inflammatory speech.
