Daler`s counsel denies allegation of non-cooperation
Patiala, Oct 28: Counsel for noted Punjabi pop singer Daler Mehndi, booked in a human trafficking case, today denied the police allegation that the singer had not fully cooperated with them while being interrogated.

Daler, who after remaining elusive for about 20 days, was questioned for over seven hours by a Special Investigating Team (SIT) headed by Superintendent of Police R L Monga, here yesterday.
Dismissing the allegation of Monga and SSP Paramraj Singh Umranangal last night that Daler had not cooperated fully, his counsel Ravinsder Kumar told reporters, "we are fully cooperating with the police as we also want the truth to come out. If the singer was not cooperating, what was the SIT doing with him for about seven hours yesterday ?"
Daler is slated to appear before the team again today, Kumar said.
He said that Article 21 of the Constitution provides that the accused has the right to remain silent. "But even then, Daler replied to the queries of the police," he said adding that on questions about some people the singer had said he did not know them and so was unable to provide any details about them.
The singer, along with his brother Shamsher, who is in judicial custody, and three others, was booked on October 6 in a case of cheating and fraud on the complaint of one Bakshish Singh that he was not taken abroad even after having paid Rs 13 lakh out of the demanded Rs 15 lakh.
