Washington, June 09: US President George W Bush and Spanish Prime Minister Jose Maria Aznar today discussed Middle East peace efforts and the evolving situation in Iraq, said White House spokesman Ari Fleischer. The two leaders, staunch allies in the war against Iraq, had "a very warm and productive conversation" that ran about 30 minutes, he told reporters.
"They reviewed developments in Iraq. The President discussed his recent trip to Europe and to the Middle East, and discussed what the next steps are toward bringing peace to the region," said Fleischer.
Bush also "discussed the challenge of proliferation of Weapons of Mass Destruction and growing concerns over Iran's nuclear program," and both leaders agreed on the need for the United States and Europe to work together, said the spokesman.
