"I think we (actors) are kind of fortunate that we have a reason apart from just staying fit... that you can do something about it (fitness) and bring it into performance. So, there's even more motivation to keep doing it (staying fit)," Farhan said here.

The 42-year-old actor had worked out for 13 months for "Bhaag Milkha Bhaag". Also, his character in Nambiar's directorial required him to be lean and muscular. The actor had gone through months of training to get the right look.

Do erratic workout schedules and constant change in diet have an effect in an actor's health?

"It makes you look great! I think that happens," quipped the "Dil Dhadakne Do" actor.

"It's actually tougher when you are not doing it in all honesty. When you don't have any discipline in terms of your fitness or what you eat, that's when it takes a toll," Farhan added.

The "Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara" actor's next Bollywood film is "Rock On!! 2".

In other news, Farhan and his wife of 15 years, Adhuna Akhtar announced their decision to separate "mutually and amicably" last week.

The couple, who exchanged wedding vows in 2000, together have two daughters named Shakya and Akira.
