Sydney, July 10: Australian international forward Harry Kewell has completed his move from Leeds United to English premier league rivals Liverpool, the clubs said. On Wednesday (July 9) they agreed a five million pounds (8.17 million US dollar) fee for the player, who has signed a five-year-contract, after settling a late contractual hitch. Kewell, who can play in midfield or up front and is one of the most talented players in the premier league, has already passed a medical at Liverpool, the club he supported as a boy in Australia. In the Channel Nine interview Kewell said that he had been talking to Liverpool for six months but Mandic said that was not the case. He said that an agent for Leeds approached Liverpool to sound out their interest in the player six months ago. "There is just something special about Liverpool and that is why I accepted their (offer)," the 24-year-old told Australian TV Channel 9 in a previously-recorded interview.

"It's going to be difficult leaving Leeds, they are a massive club themselves in their own right. And I have got some great friends there.

"I don't know if it will feel strange (playing for Liverpool), I know it will feel bloody good to put on a different shirt. I just can't wait to get back out there."

Kewell had one season remaining on his contract with Leeds, who are struggling financially and have sold several leading players over the last year.
