Jaipur, Jan 31: Income tax sleuths recovered over a crore in a raid on five business groups based at Udaipur, Kherwada and Dungarpur in Rajasthan but said it was just the tip of the iceberg, a senior IT department official said. IT officials conducted simultaneous raids at over two dozen premises of these business houses and made the recovery, he said.
The raid was conducted on the directive of the Rajasthan Director General of Income Tax (investigation) M N Vemra and Director S C Gupta, the official said.
He said IT officials searched commercial establishments, residences, offices, workshops, mines and factory of these businessmen dealing in jewelry, green marble mining and trading, financial offices, petrol pumps, tanker transportation and civil contract businesses and made the recovery.
Around Rs 94,00,000 in cash, Indira Vikas Patras and fixed deposit receipts worth Rs 3,78,000 were recovered from their possession, the IT official said.
Several transactions made by these business houses found no mention in the account books, he said adding that more cash recovery was possible over a couple of days, he said
A pocket diary recovered in the form of a ledger that had been seized contained details of cash transactions of over Rs 70,00,000, the IT official said adding some more were yet to be searched. Bureau Report
