Jammu, Aug 10: In a major security beefup, nearly 300 additional policemen have been deployed, additional security pickets set up and patrolling intensified at Jammu railway station and along Jammu-Pathankote track to foil any mischief by militants during Independence Day celebrations, a senior police official said today. "We have deployed nearly 300 additional troops, set up additional pickets, intensified rail track patrolling and plugged all entry and exit points in and around Jammu railway station and track to foil any mischief by militants, as I-Day was approaching close," Senior Superintendent of Police, crime and railways, Jammu, H L Fothedar said here.
Fothedar, who accompanied Deputy Inspector General (DIG), crime and railways, Jammu, M A Dar during a security review exercise of track and railway station, said, "The security measures have been taken in view of apprehension of some mischief by militants due to I-Day period". All exit and entry points on different sides have been plugged by deploying policemen and through checking is being conducted, officer said and added two X-ray machines have been installed at railway station for checkings of baggage of passengers, he said.
