Kanpur, Aug 29: The brother of a senior BSP leader was today killed and his wife seriously injured when unidentified persons attacked them in what police suspect to be a politically motivated murder.

Avinash Dube, younger brother of BSP leader Vikas Dube was asleep when unidentified persons attacked him and his wife Amita with sharp-edged weapons in Maharan Pratap Nagar in Kalyanpur Police Circle, Senior Superintendent of Police, M K Bashal said here.
While an FIR has been lodged against four BJP workers with the Kalyanpur Police, no arrests had been made in this connection so far, police said.
Police suspect the murder to be a revenge killing as Avinash's brother Vikas Dube is accused of killing BJP leader Santosh Shukla and attempting to murder some BJP workers last year in Sheoli, where 32 criminal cases are pending against him.
Dube's wife has been admitted to a private hospital where her condition is stated to be serious Bashal said, adding the body of the deceased has been sent for a post-mortem examination.
