Manipur government on Wednesday, divided Imphal and Greater Imphal areas into three zones to maintain law and order and peace and tranquility, principal secretary, Home P B O Warjri said.
The town has been witnessing large processions and meetings denouncing the extension of Centre-NSCN(I-M) truce despite prohibitory orders since it was declared on June 14.
Wajri said in a statement that no rallies, protests, processions, meetings, dharnas, burning of effigies or others will be allowed in the 'hypersensitive' Khuyathong, D.M.College Approach Road and North A.O.C area. Peaceful sit-in protests or meetings by a maximum of 100 people will be allowed after permission from district magistrate in the 'sensitive' areas of Salanthong, Langol and nearby places under Imphal municipality, he said. The 'non sensitive area', which was the last zone, would be in the outer zone, he added. Bureau Report
