Ahmedabad, Nov 20: A sessions court today granted permission to prominent danseuse Mallika Sarabhai, an accused in an alleged visa racket, to perform in Pune for two days, in response to her application to allow her to travel for shows.
The court, however, took note of the contention of Public Prosecutors J M Panchal and Chetan Shah that "Sarabhai was taking too much liberty with her anticipatory bail conditions and had convened a press conference last week in Mumbai to garner support for the ongoing controversy."
Public Prosecutor Chetan Shah told a news agency that sessions Judge P B Desai "did grant Sarabhai permission to attend a two-day programme at Pune along with directions to be present before the investigating officer on November 22 in the morning." Sarabhai had also moved an application seeking permission to be away from the state for performances between November 23 and 28 for which the hearing will be on November 22. The same court had on November 17 rejected Sarabhai's application to modify her anticipatory bail conditions and had instructed her to seek prior permission from the court before leaving Gujarat.
Sarabhai was allowed to attend a function in Mumbai between November 12 and 14 after she was granted anticipatory bail on October 29.
