Agartala, Nov 12: The Centre has extended the ban on insurgent outfits National Liberation Front of Tripura (NLFT) and All Tripura Tiger Force (ATTF), official sources said here today. The extension was ordered on October 3 and came into effect the same day, the sources said.
The order banning the two militant outfits was also notified in the extraordinary notice of the gadget of government of India of that date, the sources said.
According to the notification, NLFT and ATTF have joined other banned insurgent outfits of north-eastern region and are attempting to secede the seven states of the region to form a separate state through armed struggle against the country's sovereignty. Besides, the outfits are indulging in killings, abductions, extortion in the state and have set up camps in neighbouring countries for shelter, arms training and others subversive activities, the notification said.
Tripura Chief Minister Manik Sarkar said the state home department has sought help of Interpol through the union Home Ministry to apprehend NLFT and ATTF ultras believed to be sheltering in Bangladesh.

He told a news agency that the state government had furnished the Centre with details of insurgent outfits' operations in the state and in the neighbouring countries.
