A special designated court, trying former Sikkim Chief Minister Nar Bahadur Bhandari for alleged possession of assets disproportionate to his known sources of income, was adjourned on Tuesday as the CBI counsel was not present. Special judge (prevention of corruption act) S W Lepcha adjourned the case for the day as the cousel for the investigating agency, who was supposed to come from Delhi, could not attend the court.
Bhandari, a former Chief Minister for nearly 15 years, was chargesheeted by CBI on June 7 last for possessing assets worth over Rs 53 lakh which were disproportionate to the known sources of income and which he could not satisfactorily account for. Bureau Report
