Energy secretary Spencer Abraham yesterday ordered a
broad overhaul of the nation's nuclear weapon laboratories in
response to security lapses that include missing computers,
misuse of credit cards and reports of sleeping guards.
As American officials become more security conscious than before following the 9/11 terror attacks, any immigrant is suspect regardless of his race of religion, New York Times said in a report. Under a new Virginia Law, driving licences will only be given to those who can prove they have residence in Virginia.

Migrant central Americans are worst hit under this new law, the Times said, adding Utah has also made it more difficult for illegal immigrants to obtain a licence.
Illegal number in the millions, the report said, noting
that federal agents have arrested nearly 1,000 undocumented
workers in sweeps of airports.
Citing security concerns, the justice department has in
recent months ruled that asylum seekers fleeing persecutions
in Haiti and elsewhere can be indefinitely detained.
