A S Anand`s appointment as NHRC chairman cleared
New Delhi, Jan 27: A high level meeting chaired by Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee is understood to have cleared appointment of former Chief Justice of India A S Anand as the next chairman of the National Human Rights Commission.

cleared appointment of former Chief Justice of India A S Anand
as the next chairman of the National Human Rights Commission.
The meeting at the Prime Minister's house was attended among others by Deputy Prime Minister L K Advani, Rajya Sabha deputy chairperson Najma Heptulla and senior Congress leader Manmohan Singh. Anand will succeed Justice J S Verma whose tenure expired early this month.
