Lucknow, June 08: Leaders of opposition parties are meeting today to give a final shape to their campaign for dislodging Mayawati government in Uttar Pradesh.
Samajwadi Party supremo Mulayan Singh Yadav, Rashtriya Kranti Party chief Kalyan Singh, Rashtriya Lok Dal leader Ajit Singh and Congress state president Jagdambika Pal are likely to attend the meeting, sources said.
The crucial meeting is expected to give final shape to the blue print of an alternate government in the state, said Anil Dubey, state general secretary of RLD, which recently withdrew support to the Mayawati government. Meanwhile, leader of BJP legislature party leader Lalji Tandon met Governor Vishnu Kant Shastri last night and reaffirmed that BSP-BJP government enjoyed majority in the assembly.
Tandon reportedly asked the governor to verify opposition claims about support of MLAs, particularly independents, before taking any decision. Opposition leaders had earlier given a memorandum to the governor seeking dismissal of Mayawati-led government claiming that it had been reduced to minority following withdrawal of support by 14-member RLD.
