Railways earmark Rs 2,311 crore to strengthen safety system
New Delhi, July 23: The Railways have earmarked an expenditure of Rs 2,311 crore from the Special Railway Safety Fund (SRSF) of Rs 17,000 crore during the current financial year to further strengthen safety system.
New Delhi, July 23: The Railways have earmarked an expenditure of Rs 2,311 crore from the Special Railway Safety Fund (SRSF) of Rs 17,000 crore during the current financial year to further strengthen safety system.
During 2002-03, railways incurred Rs 2,486 crore as
against a target of Rs 2200 crore, while Rs 1,434 crore were
spent in the first year of the commencement of SRSF in
2001-02, an official release said today.
The non-lapsable SRSF is intended to clear the backlog of renewal of arrears of railway assets as on April 1, 2001. It is programmed for completion by 2006-07, it said adding works under SRSF are progressing as per the target.
The implementation of SRSF is monitored at divisional, zonal and ministry level regularly. Besides, inter-ministerial monitoring of SRSF project is being done to improve safety of rail services. Bureau Report
