Vadodara, May 18: Central Gujarat and Vadodara city would remain in the grip of the heatwave, currently sweeping the area with mercury hovering around 45 degree celsius, for the next few days. Mercury has already crossed the season's highest of 45.5 degree celsius in the city last week and would continue to be around 43 degree celsius several degrees above normal, meteorological sources said here today. Heatwave conditions are being caused by north westerly winds bringing in heat from the Thar desert but weathermen said the breeze could bring some respite to citizens. Roads in most parts of the state are deserted with people preferring to remain indoors.
