Kolkata, July 09: Openly revolting against the Trinamool Congress supremo Mamata Banerjee and defying the party decision to boycott the assembly, its MLA Sibdas Mukherjee today took part in the proceedings of the House.
The TC leadership said they would discuss the issue and take a decision as to what action should be taken against him.
Mukherjee publicly criticised the party's decision to boycott the house in protest against "Marxist terror" during the recent panchayat elections in the state and said the assembly was the appropriate forum for discussing the issue. ''That is why I have come to the House to discuss the problems of my constituency,” he told newsmen and appealed to other TC MLAs to come to the House.
The rebel TC MLA said he had not informed the party of his decision to attend the House. To a question, he did not rule out the possibility of his joining Congress. ''I am still in Trinamool Congress but there is no last word in politics.''
Earlier, members from the treasury benches welcomed the rebel TC legislator by thumping desks. Before taking his seat in the Trinamool Congress bench he shook hands with CLP leader Atish Sinha and CLP chief whip Asit Mitra.
Mukherjee, an MLA from Krishnanagar (East), made a mention regarding the death of a police officer in his constituency and demanded an inquiry. Bureau Report
