BCB asks Indian board to renegotiate participation fee
New Delhi, June 13: The Bangladesh Cricket Board has requested its Indian counterpart to settle for a lesser guarantee money for the TVS Cup in Dhaka in April this year.
New Delhi, June 13: The Bangladesh Cricket Board has requested its Indian counterpart to settle for a lesser guarantee money for the TVS Cup in Dhaka in April this year.
"Since top Indian players including Sachin Tendulkar and Rahul Dravid did not play in the triangular cricket tournament we are trying to renegotiate the participation fee," BCB president Ali Asghar Lobi said from Dhaka today.
A top official of the Indian Cricket Board said they have received such a letter from the BCB.
According to reports, BCCI was to receive three-crore taka (around US dollars 600,000) as tour guarantee money from their Bangladesh counterpart but Lobi asserts the amount due to India was only one-crore taka (approx US dollars 200,000).
Be that as it may, even this amount would be subjected to negotiation between the two boards as top Indian cricket stars gave the Dhaka tourney a miss.
Tendulkar pulled out of the tourney because of a persistent finger injury while Dravid excused himself to rest his injured thumb. Ashish Nehra, Anil Kumble and Javagal Srinath were also rested after a 15-month long grind.
South Africa, India and hosts Bangladesh took part in the triangular event. South Africa and India shared the trophy after a rain-disrupted final.
