Jabalpur, Dec 25: Claiming that the Congress was the only party committed to secularism and development in the country, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Digvijay Singh today appealed to the people to come under its roof to fight against the forces of communalism.
Stating that "it is the demand of the hour," Singh said that those who wish to maintain integrity of the country and amity in the society should come together.
The Chief Minister was speaking at a function where former state NCP general secretary Mohammad Raees Wali joined the Congress along with his supporters in the presence of state Congress chief Radha Kishen Malviya.
Earlier, speaking at the concluding ceremony of 'Vishwa Shanti Geeta Gyan Yagyna' here, Singh underlined the need to prevent the forces dividing the society into religion, caste and sub-caste for the sake of politics.
The 'Bhagwat Geeta' is a guide for people of all religions and castes which teaches us to choose the right path during difficulties, he said.
"We should follow the teachings of Geeta to become responsible citizens," Singh said and lauded the efforts of the organisers 'Jaikrishni sect' for their aim to follow the path of 'Vishwa Shanti' (world peace).
All are equal and everyone should try to progress so that it helps in development of the society and the country, the chief minister said. Bureau Report
