Srinagar, Aug 27: Heavily-equipped militants hurling grenades made a vain attempt to storm the Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd building here injuring eight people including six security men this evening, official sources said. Faced with retaliatory fire by forces deployed at the heavily guarded building, the militants, belonging to the al-Mansooren outfit, have taken shelter in the nearby hotel which has been surrounded by security personnel.

There were reports of intermittent firing as security personnel were trying to force the militants, believed to be two in number, out of the hotel which also houses offices of several local dailies, the sources said.
