BJP to make no-trust motion speeches its weapon against Cong
New Delhi, Aug 21: Buoyed over the defeat of the no-confidence motion in Lok Sabha, BJP today announced it would stage rallies in all major cities where capsules of speeches by its prominent leaders during the debate would be screened to `expose` the congress and highlight the achievements of the NDA government.
"The capsules containing speeches of Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Deputy Prime Minister L K Advani and others are being prepared and would be shown at public arallies in all major cities after the current Parliament session concludes," party spokesman V K Malhotra told reporters here.
He said that senior Central leaders would be sent to different cities to take part in the rallies and their names would be finalised by tomorrow.
"Congress and other opposition parties suffered a humiliating defeat. People have seen it on television and nobody is going to believe in their excuses about the motive behind the no-confidence motion," he said.
Malhotra said that the issues raised by the opposition could have been discussed under any rule other than the no-trust vote and even BJP did not expect the motion to be defeated by more than 100 votes as against the actual 126 votes.
Meanwhile, BJP president M Venkaiah Naidu held a meeting with about 125 party MPs at the parliament house to convey the party's message and its achievements to the people under its 'gaon gaon chalo, ghar ghar chalo' (reach out to every village, every house) campaign.
The MPs were asked to motivate workers to reach out to the people ahead of the coming assembly and Lok Sabha polls.
