New Delhi, June 11: Dubbing as "totally untrue" reports that it was seeking military bases in India, the US today said while conducting joint exercises employing each other's facilities were "standard operations". "The US has a strong and growing defence relationship with India but this does not involve establishing US military bases. Thus press reports that US is seeking military bases in India are totally untrue," a US embassy statement here said.

It said that while conducting joint exercises, the US and/or India may employ each other's facilities like aircraft could refuel and use airport services, ships might refuel and troops could be billeted and fed.

"These are standard operations for joint exercises," it said.
