Srinagar, Oct 10: Opposition National Conference today demanded postponement of local bodies elections in Jammu and Kashmir, scheduled to be held next month, in view of the holy month of Ramzan. The demand was formally made by the NC when a two-member delegation met Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, official sources said.

The Chief Minister assured the delegation, comprising leader of opposition in legislative council Abdul Qayoom and NC's Kashmir provincial president Mehboob Baig, that the government would consider their demand, the sources said.

Government has already announced dates for elections to the local bodies in November.
