Jammu, Aug 20: A militant and an Army jawan were killed in two separate militancy related incidents in Jammu division since last evening, official sources said here today. Militants opened fire on a police post at Basantgarh area of Udhampur district last night, the sources said, adding guard at post returned fire, which forced the militants to flee.
However, during search operation in the area, police recovered body of a militant, Arshad Ali, the sources said. No weapon was recovered from the spot, they said.
In another incident, militants fired on security forces when they were conducting searches in Chajala area of Poonch district last evening, the sources said and added one jawan was killed in the firing of the militants. The operation to track down militants was on in the area, the sources said. Bureau Report
