Jaipur, Oct 03: Accusing Ashok Gehlot led Congress
government in Rajasthan of not taking action against
fundamentalist forces, state Muslim Forum today warned the
party against adopting "soft hindutva" line in the year end
assembly elections.
"Congress seems to be moving on the line of soft hindutva
in Rajasthan without taking any lesson from its failed
strategy in Gujarat polls", leaders of the Rajasthan Muslim
Forum, an umbrella organisation of 20 Muslim organisations and
institutions, told a press conference here.
Its convenor Qari Mueenuddin said Gehlot government
should stop "acting softly" against fundamentalist forces who
were making lives of ordinary Muslims miserable.
"Muslims are living in constant fear in the face of
assault on them in different parts but their had been no
protection from the state", he said.
Mueenuddin alleged the government last month suspended
policemen who took action against rioters in Aklera town of
Jhalawar district where houses and commercial establishments
of Muslims were damaged.
The government action against upright policemen apparently to keep the majority community in good humour during election time not only demoralised police and administration but also the minority community, he claimed.
Observing that Muslims needed government support in breaking shackles of educational, social, economic and political backwardness, forum member and chief of Jamat-e-Islami Hind Mohammad Saleem said the community should be given reservation in jobs and education as per its population under the OBC category.
