Bangalore, June 20: Kannada Chaluvali leader Vatal Nagaraj today asked the state government to take steps to check the influx of migrants into Karnataka, claiming that the problem had assumed "serious proportions." Speaking to reporters here, he said the influx of "outsiders", particularly into Bangalore, was depriving Kannada speaking people of job opportunities, breeding a lot of resentment among the local people. The government must, therefore, pay serious attention to the issue and take remedial steps, he said. Nagaraj said he was also planning to cobble together an alliance of pro-Kannada and farmers' organisations to fight the next assembly polls to protect the interests of the state which, he alleged, were not safe in the hands of national parties.
