Jammu, Dec 16: Jammu and Kashmir government has formulated a comprehensive plan for the development of Katra base camp to Mata Vaishnodevi shrine as a major tourist destination. The plan envisages for development of infrastructure at the camp keeping in view the gaining momentum of domestic as well as foreign visitors to Vaishnodevi shrine, Minister for Housing and Urban Development and Tourism Ghulam Hassan Mir said at a high level meeting of officers here yesterday.
Mir also discussed the construction of approach roads and other assets required for railway station at Katra.
Two approach roads from Tikri-Panthet and Katra-Tikkri would be constructed on modern lines to meet the requirements of the tourist spot.
A modern bus stand near Katra besides shopping complex would also be built and other utility assets would also be taken up near the proposed site of railway station.
A sub-committee headed by the Minister of State for Public Health Engineering Jugal Kishore would visit the spot shortly. Bureau Report
