Mandi (HP), Nov 05: Former BJP general secretary K Govindacharya today ruled out returning to the BJP and said he would continue to work for promotion of swadeshi movement. Govindacharya, who was here to inaugurate the state conference of Akhil Bhartiya Vidyarthi Parishad, told reporters that he had earlier joined the BJP on the directions of the RSS but now he had told the Sangh that any decision on his return would be his own.
He said he was working to face the challenge of globalisation by rising above party politics and his decision to remain aloof from mainstream politics was not because of any hope or disappointment.
Govindacharya said he was busy preparing a comprehensive report on globalisation and alternative swadeshi economic policy.
He said poor countries were looking towards India after the Cancun meet of world trade organisation and efforts were afoot to break the unity of G-20 countries.
Govindacharya said India should remain "vigilant" and insist on keeping agriculture sector out of WTO till the subsidies on agriculture were brought to zero-zero level in both the developing and the developed countries. Bureau Report
