Guwahati, Nov 24: RJD supremo Laloo Prasad Yadav,
heading a 10-member good-will mission to Assam, today flayed
the Centre for not providing adequate forces to the state
resulting in the killing of 50 innocent Biharis.
"When the Chief Minister is demanding 180 companies of
para-military forces and the Centre itself has assessed that
the state requires that many companies, it is indeed
unfortunate that there are only 110 companies deployed in
Assam," Yadav told reporters after coming out of a closed-door
meeting with Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi.
He said he had discussed in length the requirements of security forces by the state government and measures initiated so far to contain the violence in the state with the Chief Minister.
Rubbishing the claim of Union Minister of North East Affairs C P Thakur that a "third force" is active against the Biharis, he said "whatever is happening in Assam today is the fault of the Centre and there is no so-called third force in action against the Biharis".
He accused the Centre of "conspiring to create the prevailing situation and cause miseries of the Biharis in Assam today. It was mainly the fault of the BJP government at the Centre".
