Jammu, June 06: Union Minister of State for Defence Chaman Lal Gupta today expressed satisfaction over the development work carried out in Ladakh region of Jammu and Kashmir, particularly by security forces. "The security forces in Ladakh have been deployed not only for security purpose but also to improve the life and economy of people there," Gupta said at the conclusion of his three-day tour of the mountainous region here today. Gupta, who took stock of the work done by the Border Road Organisation (BRO), also reviewed the functioning of the scientific centres of experiments for increasing production in various fields, expressed satisfaction over the achievements in the production of different vegetables and developing of green houses for improving the environment. Also referred as cold desert, Ladakh has very few trees and paucity of vegetables.
The minister said large number of trees have been planted and the grass is being grown to minimise the shortage of oxygen and improve environment. Bureau Report
