Kathmandu, Sept 30: At least 11 Maoists and five security personnel were killed in separate clashes between security forces and rebels in various parts of Nepal, defence ministry sources said today. Five Maoists were killed in Kesaria area of Morang district while three more rebels were killed in Jadepani area of Kanchanpur district yesterday, a media report said.

Three Maoists, two in Hasulia area of Kailali district and one in Bhaisapur area of Dailekh district were killed in separate clashes with the security forces, the reports said. The rebels in turn killed three policemen and two soldiers in separate incidents yesterday. Two army men were killed when landmines set up by the rebels went off in the Dumarwana area of Bara district and Chormara area of Nawalparasi district, the defence ministry said.

Three policemen were killed in a cross firing between the Maoists and the policemen at Kalyanpur Ilaka Police office in Saptari district, it said. Four policemen also received serious injury during the fighting. Bureau Report
