New York, June 12: US banks including JP Morgan Chase & Co, Citigroup Inc., and Bank of America Corp. have met with officials from the US Treasury Department to discuss a role in the rebuilding of the Iraqi financial system. Financing trade, systems for payments, currency exchange and retail banking were among the topic discussed.
US officials, who have not reached a decision on whether to directly involve the banks, approached some banks to start discussions.
