Malaysian police have arrested another six alleged Islamic militants suspected of having trained in Afghanistan, a police spokesman said Thursday.
The men, five of whom are teachers in religious schools, were arrested on Wednesday under the Internal Security Act (ISA), which allows detention without trial for any form of action that threatens the country's security, police said in a statement.
The six are accused of involvement in local militant activities with the Malaysian mujahideen group, said to be waging a holy war, after undergoing military training at camps in Afghanistan.
Last month, nine of those arrested were ordered to be detained without trial for two years, while the 10th person was placed under the restricted residence act and confined to the southern state of Johor.
